December 17, 2001 - winter break 01/sanfran madness
i haven't been updating the jounral for a while just because the weekdays were not too exciting... boring actually... this is how it went: 12:00 PM wake up. 1:00 take a shower. 1:30 eat w/ mom somewhere. 2:00 go home and play videogames. 6:00 eat dinner. 7:00 wash dishes. this was the only constant thing that happend all week long 1:00 sleep. there were little variations here and there... like playing different games or eating spam instead of eating out, but yea, that was my monday-friday. but on friday... we substituted the 2:00 go home and play videogames w/ going to the Gal (the glendale galleria) cause my brothers went to go get my (five days belated) birthday gift... they took me along just for kicks so i can choose my birthday gift (huh? yea i know... that was weird)... but i had a choice b/t them spliiting up their money on a gamecube or michael buying a game boy advance for me and kuya buying 2 games and an accessory... but since they were sold out of gamecubes (who isn't?) i chose the gba... and since we were gonna go to san francisco this weekend, the gba would be a better decision... so we get the GBA in clear pink, i mean, clear purple and two games: golden sun and castlevania. those games are hella good... esp. golden sun. that game is tiiight! anyway... yea this weekend we went to san francisco by plane... and let me tell you, you really need to go like 2-3 hours before your flight time nowadays, since the security is beefed up... i had to take out my photo ID like 3 times... they randomly searched people and they had actual armed guards (probably national guard) in the airport patrolling the place... they had m4a1's... how do i know? counterstrike, baby! but yea, that was hardcore... but the funny thing was how we got stopped at the metal detection/x-ray area... my mom was gonna pierce one of my niece's ears, so she brought her piercing gun... so guess what happened... she got stopped... and her bag was searched, and they found the gun... and my mom took it from their hands and demonstrated it right in front of them... and they're all "oh! its just a piercing gun!" and we were let go... except for the oakland airport checkpoint... when my mom demonstrated it, they sent it to the head supervisor, and he told her that she had to go back and bring the whole bag back to check-in... mind you that the check in line is long in itself, and in addition to that, the metal detector line was even longer cause of the beefed up security and the random searches... so imagine waiting on line for viper at magic mountain at peak hours and doing it twice... yeah. that sucked. big time. but anyway... san fran was fun... we went to my lolo's place first... had some turkey, then we prayed for lola, then we went to my aunt's place to stay over... then had church, visited lola, then ate at lee's buffet in san mateo (yum!) and we went to the airport to go home... and now we're home... and here i am. oh and btw... our apartment is officially clean! when i went there for a couple of days, i saw the state our bathroom was in, so i went to rite-aid to get some toilet/bathroom cleaning supplies, and i cleaned that shiet up! yea it was rough... i was on my knees, but it looks sparkling clean. anyway... i hope its still pristine when i go back... ...i was just reading on ryan's journal entry, and i must say... i have mad props for that guy! haha he got mad hitted on and everything... if only i had that luck with girls! lol... i hope everything gets even better thant this! speaking of girls... during the whole san francisco trip, i couldn't stop thinking about a girl... i mean... yeah, she's different, just because she's currently the only one person i know that i actually think is really really funny... she has the same type of humor as i... but a guy can only dream... have a good winter break everyone! ~ja matte!
December 11, 2001 - puso winter retreat
everything happens for a reasonso badboba was talking about something about an epiphany last weekend... i guess something simlar happened to me (to a smaller degree)... well we had our pusoboard retreat, and let me tell you, it was tiiiight! the first day was the funnest... we left for big bear early - i was drivng the car w/ all girls... 4:1 girl to guy ratio... score!!! but the thing w/ pusoboard is that although there are 11 girls and 5 guys, most of the girls have b/f's... haha! but anyway... the drive up was cool... the girls were talking, and talking, and talking, but their conversations kept me awake... after that we unpacked and we ate some jack in the crack... after the food, the directors said that we had a gift for us... so they made us open a present w/ box after box after box after box after box inside it... after all that opening, inside was a note saying that we (the rest of the pusoboard minus the directors) had to: 1) create a human pyramid, 2) imitate one of the four directors, and 3) everyone sings a solo part in their favorite christmas song... yea after all that was done, we got our real presents... stockings full of candies, an angel, a stone (inside joke), and, best of all, business cards! my name's on a business card! how sweet is that? anyway... a little background... since i honestly don't really know much of the other board members, i was was very hesitant toward how the turnout of the retreat would be... but after the whole 3 tasks thing, i loosened up to the other board and i was all good. anyway after that we had just chillax time, then after that we were writing letters to each other (you know, spop stuff)... after that we slept in our rooms... not too many guys can say that they slept with 3 girls in the same room, but i can ;D. haha jk. we were in the same room, but w/ four bunk beds... ...the next day i had to make breakfast... i learned how to make french toast, which is gooood. after that we got to work... we did a hella long pusoboard meeting... you know... old business, new business, etc. after that we went to KFC to get some chicken (mmm!) and then we went ahead to plan the meetings for the next quarter... im gonna do the massage therapy one w/ karl during midterm week... take a note of that guys... puso's gonna have a studybreak w/ a massage therapy session! anyway, after that we chillaxed even more and then we had an activity... we had the candle saying what we're looking forward to doing next quarter... and then was the intimate activity... there were 7 groups and we would talk to each other through affirmation and rotate every so often to get to talk to everyone on board... it was tough, emotional, and tiring... i thought i was my most emotional w/ earl, the most fake w/ ro (why? i don't know. i honestly don't know.)... yea i got to know a lot more about the other puso board peeps... and after that i felt that i would never go back to not being in puso... i believe that i have found my niche (otehr than sierra, of course) and i love it. ...the last day was my b'day... yea 19! i had to leave the retreat early cause i needed to go to a b'day party my parents were doing for me... i wanted to go snowboarding, but that was alright... at least i gave my free ticket to tinz, who said she wouldn't snowboard cause it cost too much... the bad thing was that the woman giving us the ticket asked me to wear the lift ticket in the building... she was probably suspecting i would give the ticket to tinz, then she would wear it... we told her to hold the ticket so i could bring in my jacket... wehen i got the jacket, i put the ticket on, and then tenn removed the ticket from my jacket into tinz' pants... so the plan worked :) going back home was okay... natasha and tenn were w/ me... we took the toll road home... the 261 that goes straight to LA. chilled at my place for a while, then left for home for the b'day... the b'day was fun... there were carolers practicing at the same time, so there were a lot of people... but yea, i got me a lot of money from presents, heard about my mom swigging a bottle of wine, and watching mike beat mgs2 in 11 hours... the ususal. well... my drivers license expired on my birthday, so i was literally stripped of my privilege to drive! i felt soo lost. my kuya and i were planning to go to the DMV for renewal, but when i we saw that it was a 3 hour wait, we said forget it... so we went the next day and got my temporary license... turns out that my license was coming in, but it never came home because the mail was returned to the post office... don't ask why, i don't know either... so anyway, that was today... just getting my license, then playing videogames... now im in costa mesa right now to go to JC's office to get my letter of recommendation and then research on caterers for the pre-health conference... and then gonna go back home... ... wow a long journal entry. <--- this is solomon. he's got a new journal... go see it. click!
